Schenevus Foundation for Excellence in Education
June 2019

Dear Graduates & Friends of Schenevus Central School:

Some of our fondest memories are of family, the community in which we grew up, our friends, and our school. You will be pleased to hear that your school, Andrew S. Draper, is still a thriving focal point of our community. Students during this academic year have learned how to fly drones, raised nearly $5,000 for the American Heart Association, raised funds to purchase carbon monoxide detectors for area residents, sang the National Anthem at the Binghamton Devils hockey game, staged Peter Pan, Jr., and engaged in
so many more educational and community enriching activities.

The Schenevus Foundation for Excellence in Education helps to support wonderfully enriching programs and events at our school through your interest and generosity. We would like to introduce our mission and goals for the upcoming 2019-2020 school year.

The Schenevus Foundation for Excellence in Education is a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide funds and resources for learning opportunities beyond the existing curriculum, provide equipment and facilities not funded through other means, support opportunities for creative ideas and innovative programs, and promote community and alumni awareness of educational challenges and solutions. Please consider helping us with this important mission.

For the current 2018-2019 school year, the Foundation has contributed in big ways to the educational experience and opportunities of our school’s current student body. The Foundation has provided full or partial funding for the following school events and programs: the 4th and 5th Graders’ attendance at the ESYO Youth Concert at Proctors Theater in Schenectady; motivational speaker Jared Campbell lecturing to the Middle and High School students as part of a SADD Club event; the High School Music Department
participating in the High Note Festival in Lake George this spring; and the Backpack Program, which provides students with backpacks filled with nutritious food for the weekend. Additionally, the Foundation will provide several scholarships to students at Class Night and Graduation.

The Foundation is also hosting the Sixth Annual Dragon Run 5K Run & Walk on Sunday, September 15, 2019, at Borst Field in Schenevus starting at 11 a.m. Additional race information, including registration procedures, can be found HERE. This year’s Annual Campaign will continue to support these and other fine programs. Thanks to your previous generous donations, the Foundation has helped to enrich the educational experience and expanded the educational opportunities for our school’s student body.

Consider becoming an active part of your beloved school’s success. Wherever you may live now, you can help the Foundation to make our school be the best it can be. Your tax-exempt contribution will help us continue to support the excellent academic, athletic, and co-curricular activities offered at Schenevus Central School.
