Budget Proposal To Stay Within Tax Cap
At its April 9 meeting, the Schenevus Central School Board of Education approved a budget proposal for the 2019-20 school year that stays within the tax levy limit set for the district by the state.
The $9,049,317 proposed budget would cut spending by $145,456 — a 1.6% decrease over the current year’s budget. If approved, the budget would result in a 4.87% tax levy increase.

What's in the budget?

The budget proposal cuts spending by eliminating several positions that will be vacant at the end of the 2018-19 school year due to retirements, including two elementary teaching positions, a Library Media Specialist position, an Occupational Therapist position and Business and Physical Education teaching positions.
While no cuts to athletic programs are proposed in the spending plan, the budget proposal does not include any equipment funds for extracurricular activities.
