NOTICE OF ELECTION VOTE

SCHENEVUS CENTRAL SCHOOL DISTRICT

Regarding: Special Election 

Date: August 20, 2025 

Time: 12:00 P.M. (noon) to 8:00 P.M. 

Location: Schenevus Central School District, 159 Main Street, Schenevus, NY 12155 

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that, pursuant to Education Law Section 2113(1), a special election to elect one member of the Schenevus Central School District Board of Education will be held on August 20, 2025, from 12 p.m (Noon) through 8:00 p.m. at the Schenevus Central School District, 159 Main Street, Schenevus, NY 12155, to fill the balance of the term of a vacant Board of Education seat expiring on June 30, 2027. 

NOTICE IS ALSO GIVEN that applications for absentee and early mail ballots will be obtainable during school business hours from the District Clerk, and completed applications must be received by the District Clerk at least seven (7) days before the special election if the ballot is to be mailed to the voter, or the day before the special election, if the ballot is to be delivered personally to the voter. Absentee and early mail ballots must be received by the District Clerk not later than 5:00 P.M., prevailing time, on August 20, 2025. 

A list of persons to whom absentee and early mail ballots are issued will be available for inspection to qualified voters of the District in the office of the District Clerk during each of the five days prior to the election, except Sunday, between the hours of 8:00 A.M. and 4:00 P.M., prevailing time, on weekdays prior to the day set for the special election, and on August 20, 2025, the day set for the election. Any qualified voter then present at the polling place may object to the voting of the ballot upon appropriate grounds by making his/her challenge and the reasons therefor known to the Inspector of Election before the close of the polls. 

NOTICE IS ALSO GIVEN that military voters who are qualified voters of the School District may apply for a military ballot by requesting an application from the District Clerk at 607-638-5530 or mcompetiello@schenevuscsd.org. For a military voter to be issued a military ballot, the District Clerk must have received a valid ballot application no later than 5:00 pm on July 25, 2025. In a request for a military ballot application or ballot, the military voter may indicate their preference for receiving the application or ballot by mail, facsimile transmission or electronic mail. 

AND NOTICE IS ALSO GIVEN that petitions for nominating candidates for office must be filed in the District Clerk’s Office between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. no later than 30 days prior to the election, which is July 21, 2025.  

Each petition, a copy of which may be obtained at the District Clerk's office, must be directed to the Clerk of the District, must be signed by at least twenty-five (25) qualified voters, must state the name and residence of the candidate.
